2018 Queen Elizabeth II Strike on the Day 'Prince George 5th Birthday' Gold Sovereign
The Royal Mint issued a special gold Sovereign on July 22, 2018, to commemorate Prince George's 5th birthday, known as a Struck On The Day (SOTD) coin. These limited-edition coins were struck in 22-carat gold and finished to a Brilliant Uncirculated standard, featuring the traditional St. George and the Dragon design on the reverse and Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. A unique feature of this Sovereign is its plain edge rather than the usual milled edge. The coin is presented with a hand-signed certificate of authenticity and a booklet, attesting to its specific striking date and limited mintage.
