1879-S Queen Victoria Shield Reverse Sovereign EX RARE - C/O
Obverse : Young head of Victoria to left. Hair bound with double fillet and collected up into a Bun behind. Date below truncation with WW.(William Wyon) in relief on truncation.
'S' Denoting Sydney Mint on reverse below shield.
Reverse :The Ensigns Armorial within a plain shield and surmounted by a crown. A branch of laurel is shown on each side of the shield. At the bottom the Thistle, Rose and Shamrock are placed with a small flower stop each side.
Sovereign 1879S Shield Reverse C over O in VICTORIA NEF/AU a very attractive example, McDonald 126d (18th Edition) states only 2 examples known, Excessively Rare the over strike very clear with the C in VICTORIA appearing as an inverted Q, Unrecorded by Marsh and Spink.
