2023 Queen Elizabeth II 'Lunar Year of the Rabbit' 999.9 1oz Gold Proof Coin

The lunar year of the Rabbit coin is one of the very last to carry the portrait of late Queen Elizabeth II, and is dated 2023. These were withdrawn from sale by the Royal Mint on 31/12/22, with no more to be struck or sold, all remaining coins have been melted down. All future coins in this series will carry the portrait of King Charles III.

We have celebrated the Chinese zodiac since 2014, releasing new additions to The Shēngxiào Collection every year. Each coin fuses British craftsmanship with ancient Chinese traditions, ensuring the heritage and history behind this practice is evident in each design. This year is a special moment in the lunar calendar as the Tiger appears only once every 12 years – meaning this is a unique opportunity to mark an important Chinese tradition.
