James Bond '007' Limited Edition Series

The Royal Mint has announced the launch of its James Bond commemorative coin and gold bar collection ahead of the release of the 25th James Bond film, No Time To Die. The collection includes a number of Royal Mint firsts – a 7 kilo gold coin, which is the largest coin with the highest face value to be produced in the Mint’s 1,100-year history and the world’s first James Bond bar in gold and silver, featuring all of the 25 official James Bond film titles.

  


The release of 'No Time to Die' may have been delayed further, now scheduled to release next April, but that has not stopped the Royal Mint from announcing the 3rd and final coin in this much sought after series. Following on from the fantastic first 2 issues, 'Bond James Bond' and 'Pay Attention 007' the final coin features James Bond in his tuxedo along with a famous quote from the films 'Shaken not Stirred' Sean Connery was the first Bond actor to make the quote in the 3rd film 'Goldfinger' (1964). The quote refers to how James Bond prefers his vodka martini to be prepared, and appeared in many of the Bond films with the exception of 'You Only Live Twice' (1967) when Bond is asked "stirred, not shaken" and in Casino Royale (2006) he is asked if he wants his martini shaken or stirred and snaps, "Do I look like I give a damn?"

  


'James Bond', created by Ian Fleming in a series of books starting with 'Casino Royale' in 1953 has gone on to be one of the worlds leading film franchises with the 25th film 'No Time To Die' due in our cinemas soon. James Bond, a very British secret agent has become an iconic figure in his own right, being played on screen by Sean Connery in the very first 1962 release 'Dr No' to Roger Moore in 'The Spy who loved me, from which the second coin in this special series takes 'Bonds' famous Lotus Esprit specially adapted as a submarine, to Daniel Craig as Bond in the latest and film 'No Time To Die'.

  


The first coin in the series depicting James Bond's iconic Aston Martin DB5 which featured in the 1964 release 'Goldfinger' starring Sean Connery. The are coins available in a range of sizes starting from 1/4 ounce silver to a whopping 7 kilo gold coin, Each coin in the series will be released in succession leading up to the release of No Time To Die.

  

This special series contains 3 designs released between August and October 2020. The coins above are in issue order, The Quarter Ounce Gold proof has a mintage of just 1007, the One Ounce '360' and the 2 Ounce a tiny 260 pieces. The Proof Silver range includes the Half Ounce '£1' denominated coin, the £2 One Ounce, £5 Two Ounce and different design £10, a whopping 5 ounce coin of which there are only 440 pieces being produced. As you can imagine these are extremely sought after coins with many in the range selling out very quickly.
