2022 Queen Elizabeth II 'Alan Turing' 50p Gold Proof Coin

Best known for his code breaking work during WW2, and father of modern day computing by some, Turing's portrait also appears on the £50 note. Turing was posthumously pardoned in 2013 by the queen for his 1952 offence of being gay, and became a figurehead for gay rights, leading to the creation of 'Turing’s Law’.

The final coin in the Royal Mint's Innovation in Science 50p series is limited to just 180 gold proof coins released in single format. It joins previous issues such as 'Stephen Hawkins', Insulin. DNA, Charles Babbage and John Logie Baird.
